Picton to Blenheim

Wellington Weather: cool, rainy, 60's
Blenheim Weather: started out cloudy & became partly sunny & around 70

Early start this morning! We had to leave our hotel by 6:15 am to get to the ferry that would take us to Picton on the south island. It was pretty cool & cloudy for most of our boat ride, but we did get to see some nice scenery on our way to Picton.

Cleared up enough to see some fjords

Once in Picton we picked up our new rental car & headed straight to Blenheim. Once in Blenheim we packed up a few things and quickly headed on out for another adventure. We were picked up from our hotel for our biking wine tour.

Ready for some wine tasting!

Off we go!

It was definitely more intense (for lack of a better word) than I expected. We covered about 10 miles, 4 wineries, and 30 wines in 4 hours. We made it to the following wineries: Villa Maria, Highfield, Fromm, and River Farm. We drank lots of wine & purchased a few to drink during the rest of our vacation. New Zealand is known for their Savignon Blanc and Pinot Noir. Those are not wines Peter & I typically drink, but we really enjoyed most of them that we tried.

Looking stylish, as always

We then walked a bit to get some take away. We found a random place where I got wonton soup and a potato & vege roll. Peter got a Hawaiian burger & half a scoop of chips. Decent. Greasy, but decent.

We stopped at a local bar for a beer & then headed home to share some Savignon Blanc. On TV we found last seasons Amazing Race and watched a bit. Peter told me that we can't be on the Amazing Race unless I do all of the driving. Apparently he doesn't appreciate my map reading skills here in New Zealand.
