Food Interlude

At some point I'll resume regular blogging. Maybe I'll even update you on the awesomeness that has been my life for the last few weeks. However, I'm too busy at the moment livin' like the rockstar that I am, so you'll have to accept this meager post for the time being...

I present to you my dinner... a bacon & avocado grilled portobello burger.

Orchid

Right after my birthday last month I started to notice my orchid plant looked like it was planning to have a good summer. My mother gave it to us as a housewarming gift one & a half years ago. Peter thought it'd be dead by winter. Apparently I have a green thumb 'cause it's bloomed multiple times & continues to thrive on our dining room table. I decided to start taking regular pictures of it to show it's growth. It's come quite far in the last 30 days!

(Disclaimer: As you look at the pictures keep in mind that I (obviously) haven't mastered the art of photography. I'm finding it impossible to focus the pictures as I would like!)

Delta, Delta, Delta

Leaving for Nantucket last week was not an easy feat!

First of all, I'll save you the details of my wheeling & dealing, but in the end I needed to cancel my outgoing flight to Nantucket & keep my returning flight. Wasn't the airline so nice to make me pay for canceling a flight I already paid for & was not going to take?

I love that I had to pay $12.56 to cancel a flight.
For canceling I received a credit of $137.44.
I then had to pay the $150 "change of flight fee."
I had to pay the difference.
Suck it Delta!

Also, the following drama ensued about an hour before our departure...

Muffin enjoys our enclosed front porch.

It's her happy place since Hallie won't step foot out there.

Well, Muff was hanging in her usual spot before my husband called to me during my last second packing, "Uh, Jaime, I'm gonna need your help over here." I didn't like the tone of his voice.... With good reason... 'cause this is what I came out to find:

A torn screen that leads to the great outdoors...

...and no Muffin in sight.

Peter ran outside calling her name & I ran franticly around the house calling her name. Much to my relief she came booking it up the stairs while I was looking for her in the bedrooms. There's no way to know for sure that Muffin ventured outside, but she appeared to be quite freaked out & Hallie enjoyed sniffing her. I drew the conclusion that she had a short adventure under the front steps & then the possum I believe lives there scared her back into her loving home.

Apparently she forgot about the possum though 'cause she's been looking to head back out once again.

Catnip Catastrophe

You may remember my "little" catnip plant (far right).
It was quite bountiful.

Until this little rascal came along.

We refer to this neighborhood cat as "Muffin's Arch Enemy."

Just look at this troublemaker.
She was going crazy!

Not quite sure what she was doing until...

...I saw our poor catnip plant had been attacked

Making her getaway out the back.

Muffin wishing should could have done more to protect the garden.

Nantucket Photobombs

Urban dictionary defines "photobomb" as the following:

1.photobomb

(verb)- to drop in a photo unexpectedly...to hop in a picture right before it is taken.
sarah: hey why is jimmy in the background of our prom picture?
ryan: idk, he must have photobombed it at the last second.
2.Photobomb

An otherwise normal photo that has been ruined or spoiled by someone who was not supposed to be in the photograph.
The most common photobomb is someone in the background making a face.
3.photobomb

Any time the background of a picture hijacks the original focus.
Uncle Bob's hairy ass totally photobombed that picture.
